Nothing represents the holiday season more so than the iconic image of a child’s wide-eyed excitement as they eagerly tear through ribbons and bows, layers of white tissues and decorative wrapping paper to reveal the gift given to them by some caring adult. For volunteers at The Children’s Shelter, this priceless moment is oftentimes bittersweet as these children are temporarily away from families not able to care for them. Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities Announce Funds Awarded to Local Children's Charities Members of the Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities will thank area nonprofit organizations that have supported children’s needs in our community with a reception at Any Baby Can, 217 Howard Street, on Tuesday, September 2 at 10:30AM. Seventeen charities received funds this past year from the Alamo Kiwanisfundraising initiatives - Fiesta Noche del Rio and the Western & Heritage Art Show.
