Membership

Thank you for your interest in Alamo Kiwanis Club. Alamo Kiwanis is a service organization in association with Kiwanis International. Founded in 1947, we enjoy premier status in the community. We have several fundraising events: Fiesta Noche del Rio, performed at the Arneson River Theater since 1957, along with two new fundraisers, “K” Fore Kids, a golf tournament held at Quarry Golf Course in the spring, and Clays for Kids, a sporting clay shoot held in the fall at San Antonio Gun Club, have allowed the club to donate close to $3 million dollars to local children’s charities such as Any Baby Can, Children’s Bereavement Center, Respite Care, just to name a few. Over the years we have grown to be proud of our heritage and strong willed in our resolve to live up to our mission statement, “The Alamo Kiwanis Club exists for the sole purpose of raising funds for children in need.”

Membership in Alamo Kiwanis in a broad sense requires individuals with the time, talent and means to give back to both the club and the community in which we live and serve. Alamo Kiwanis more specifically needs and desires business, professional, and high ideal minded individuals to fulfill our mission statement. Along with the countless joys and increased self-worth that membership brings, there are also responsibilities and duties to both the club and the community.

As an Alamo Kiwanis member you may expect to receive many benefits, some of which are:

  • Developing working relationships with leading professionals within our community
  • Strengthening your leadership skills
  • Effecting a positive change in the community
  • Sharpening your empathy awareness and insight to the needs of others
  • Achieving goals through role model actions
  • Gaining awareness of Global humanitarian issues through Kiwanis International

The club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays every month at noon at the Petroleum Club of San Antonio, 8620 N. New Braunfels, Floor 7, San Antonio, TX 78217. There we conduct weekly business, catch up on each other’s news, and enjoy invited guest speakers with a wide range of topics. Attendance, while not required is strongly encouraged as all members are expected to take an active role in the Club’s activities. Each member is required to work shifts at our fundraisers. Each member is required to serve on at least one of the Club’s committees: Membership, Program, Entertainment, Service Leadership Program (made up of Circle K Clubs and Key Clubs), Corporate Sponsorships, Interclub, Youth Services, Fiesta Noche del Rio, “K” Fore Kids Golf Tournament, and Clays for Kids.
